Update on Pediatric Hepatitis B Vaccine Shortage

Update on Pediatric Hepatitis B Vaccine Shortage

Merck announced last month that their pediatric hepatitis B vaccine will not be available until early 2018. The CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend routine vaccination for all newborns against hepatitis B, a liver infection transmitted through blood or body fluids that can be passed from a mother to her baby. The CDC estimates 90% of infected infants develop chronic infection.

As a reminder, GSK has an ample supply of Pediarix (combination vaccine including DTaP, IPV and hepatitis B). PAA offers members best pricing on Pediarix, along with other GSK vaccines. In addition to best pricing, participating members have the opportunity to earn rebates from GSK and PAA.

If you are interested in participating with our GSK vaccines agreement and agree to comply with the program requirements, please complete the Letter of Intent and Declaration Form.
